Several different paths converged into these art journal pages: the Wanderlust 2016 course I am taking, SanDee and amelie's Steampunk Challenges, some new materials to test out, and my own random thoughts.
When I started thinking about what I really want, the first thing that came to mind is TIME. Time to play, to create, to be with family and friends...you know, the usual. But, of course for me, time has a totally different meaning when I enter into the steampunk world or think about time travel. I would love to go to this alternate time that permeates steampunk - kind of Victorian, Industrial, Romantic, but such a different reality from what history tells us of that time. So, yes, time is on my mind.
I started with gesso on the pages, then some texture paste and stencils, then started playing with a lot of Distress Inks.
Adding a layer of brown ink and water splotches...
I really wanted it darker, so added in several DecoArt fluid acrylics - Paynes Grey, Quinacridone Gold, Carbon Black paint and mister. Yes, liking that better, and more copper please! I added more time in with Seth Apter stencils - Past Present Future and Story Time, (I have rediscovered them in my stash - I think sometimes things hide for awhile waiting to be found again, and I am really glad they did!) and Prima Resist Canvas. I used Viva Ferro with the time stencils, and this is an awesome product! Not only is it copper, but has a wonderful sandy texture, just perfect for steampunk!
So, I have had fun on my wandering journey through time, and I hope you have too!
