Butterfly Beauty

Happy Monday, friends!

This week we are all about butterflies! It is so easy to join us in this week's challenge - all you need to do is add a butterfly :)

I am using these beautiful Heidi Swapp Butterflies mixed media cards. I chose some distress inks and applied with the mini blending tool, and spritzed a bit on the side. I used the packaging to put under the die cut butterfly so I wouldn't get in on the card. Apparently I am a bit heavy handed in my blending, because I took a wing off each butterfly - oh no!! Luckily, I figured out a way to fix it, and I bet you won't even see it.

I wanted to stamp another butterfly or two on this card, so used my blending tool and pounced on the SSS stamp, misted it and then stamped. Depending on how much you mist, you can get a very nice watercolor image like I did here on my practice paper, or a little less and get more detail, like on the card.

Here are the three amigos, oops, I mean butterflies. I added the pen nib to cover the boo boo.

I love that the cards come with these beautiful envelopes too!

I found a Fleur de Lis I had cut out previously and inked it up and added it to the body. I also lightly blotted the pink and orange inks on the french script in the background. It's light enough you could still write over it.

Trying some different colors with this one - pink and orange - happy colors!

These were easy peasy and fun to make!

Ok, now it's time for you to dig through your stash and find some butterflies! Hope you are getting creative, and will join us in the challenge!

One lucky person will win Simon's $50 voucher! Every week someone wins, and this time, it could be you!

  4. I like the cut-away design of these cards, it's very clever. I think your so-called mistake is a happy accident because the pen nib is perfect and I also like the fleur-de-lis. Butterflies with interesting bodies are the best (kinda like us girls, eh?).

  14. It is always such a treat to see "variations on a theme." I am totally impressed at the different varieties of looks you achieved with butterflies. I love how the green one blends into the border. Super-cool trick that I must steal sometime!
