Hello Monday! We have a new challenge at Simon Says Stamp for our Monday challenge - Summer Fun! I hope each and every one of you has been having as much fun this summer as I have. It really has been a glorious summer with a few really hot days and rainy days thrown in here and there. My garden is thriving, thanks to my son Dan, and my family is happy and healthy, enjoying hikes, biking, music, storytelling, crafting...and so much more!
Be sure to have your kids check out this summer fun challenge just for them!
Some of my fun this summer came from participating in Tim Holtz's Summer of Creative Chemistry. Today's project is inspired by a technique I learned in CC103. I thoroughly have enjoyed working my "creative muscle" this summer! This image reminds me of biking, going to the circus and fairs...all good summer fun!
I started off creating my background with alcohol inks on Yupo.
Closeup of the texture, including threads from the applicator felt, which I like. It's almost like looking into a colorful ocean.
I decided to do a bit of sewing around the tag, and I really like the extra that adds. I also stamped some balloons from my Crazy accessories stamps and used alcohol ink with those. The strings are from tags and i just dyed them with the ink also. Love how the image looks!
The word band seemed to capture the energy and excitement of summer, and I used the alcohol ink and some Black Soot paint on this, then tied it on with some hand dyed ribbon I had made a while back.
I really hope you have been enjoying a wonderful summer full of fun. Please join us in the challenge and share some of your summer fun with us! As always, Simon offers a generous $50 voucher to one participant in the challenge, and winning this would certainly add to your summer fun!

Your background is amazing, Maura! I bet the CC classes were a ton of fun. I can't wait to get to them this fall when I have more time. Awesome job!

I really like the detail that the stitching adds-- would not yield the same "feel" without that touch... makes the tag more "hometown fair"... IDK if that makes sense, but I can't articulate it better!
ReplyDeleteMimi, I totally get what you are saying! Thanks so much for stopping by!
