Hello Monday, and welcome friends to our first challenge of 2020 here at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - SOMETHING NEW! Perhaps you got some new art or craft supplies at the end of the year? Now is the time to bring them out and play. Or maybe you've had something in your stash for a long time...well now is the time to use it and join the fun.
We are showcasing the awesome products from Darkroom Door this week - if you have any, we would love to see them! By the way, Darkroom Door is located in Australia, and the country has been facing devastating fires all over the continent. Sending prayers and rain wishes for the many, many people affected by this disaster.
I am so thrilled my friend, Claudia at Von Pappe II, is joining us for the month of January!! She is one amazingly talented creative person, and I know you will really enjoy seeing her creations. Welcome Claudia!!
The new year is often a time for resolutions and goals. I often continue with ones I have in place, but try to expand on them. For example, I love doing yoga and I want to do it at least three times a week. I also have been practicing meditation, and I am working on making it a daily practice. So, from both of these activities came this idea to make yoga meditation cards!
YOGA MEDITATION CARDS
I started with Rose Paper's Grunge Texture papers and some paints.
When I saw the Wellbeing stencil that Darkroom Door has, I knew this would be perfect for the backgrounds.
Yes, some lovely grungy backgrounds.
In the meantime, I also prepared a large sheet of watercolor paper by brushing a layer of water on it first, then applying the Quinacridone Gold and Blue watercolors and mingling them together. Once dry, I went back in and added splatters.
I cut them up into smaller cards for the quotes I found and edged them with Rusty Hinge.
Now that the backgrounds are dry, it's time to stamp them with this amazing Meditation set by Rachel Greig. She is one talented artist!
I distressed the paper edges, and adhered the paper to sheets of cardboard with Simon's Tacky Glue.
I wrote out my quotes on the watercolor paper and added them to each card.
Here are the five cards, and since they are double sided, I now have 10 quotes to pull out and read as needed.
I wrapped them all up with a bit of sari ribbon, and voila - I now have a set of meditation cards!
I hope you've enjoyed my venture into something new to start out the year, and look forward to seeing your creations! Our generous friends at Simon Says Stamp offer a $50 voucher to one participant.
A great place to shop!
