Try to Contain Yourself!

Try to contain yourself, because it's a crazy life around here!!
Welcome to another Monday challenge, and this week our theme is to "contain yourself", by using a box, cup, can, or whatever you can imagine. It's sure to be a fun challenge, so come on and join us!!

It all starts with a simple mesh bag...

Apply a layer of white gesso and let it really dry, like overnight. I know, patience in crafting is not my thing!

I didn't feel like I would do a good job stamping and coloring the crazy dogs and cats right on to the bag, so I decided to do those on watercolor paper with distress inks and sprays and then seal them.

Just thought I would give you a glimpse of my desk in the midst of all the crazy...
Since my cats and dogs are so colorful, I had to go back in and add white to the eyes and re-sketch them a bit.

Aren't they just darn cute?

Now, on to phase two...paint the background with Cheddar, then use the irregular dots stencil and the mini round blender tool to do the bright yellow dots. TIP: squirt out a bit of the paint onto a surface and take a bit with the blender tool and smooth out so you are using only a bit of paint. Use this to stencil with rather than a brush. You really don't need much.

Next layer, stenciling with the white paint and Dina Wakley's Mini Favorites stencil.

I adhered my cut outs with 3D heavy gel, and again, had to let that dry overnight. I also went over them with a layer and added it around the edges. I want them to be flexible and stay on the bag.

I used Umber and the fine tip applicator to make the doodle circles and words. Then, I took my Pitt pen and went around the words and some of the squares.  Final step, two layers of matte varnish with drying in-between, and attach a dog tag to the zipper. Voila!

Love this bag!! It's perfect to carry art supplies in, and the bright colors and fun crazy animals just make me happy!

Details....
