Hello Monday my friends! We are back with a new challenge for you at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - SPRINKLE AND SPLATTER. This is sure to be a fun one, but you might want to put on your apron, because it could get messy!
Oh, what a tangled web we weave...
Sometimes when I begin a project such as an art journal page I have a sharp idea in my head where I am going, and other times, it evolves as I keep working. This page is an example of the latter, I really didn't have a strong idea in my head when I began, so I just started to play. As I worked, I began to think about the juxtaposition of protecting our natural world and the demands we have to continually use its resources.
I started out with some of the new fresh Distress Oxide inks on my art journal page and spritzed those to get some splatters.
Add a new layer with the Jazz Dance stencil and Ripe Persimmon.
Then, add in a couple of trees using the stencil and ground espresso.
Time for some more splatters with a couple of bright Dylusions sprays.
Now, for Seth Apter's new stamps in black and coffee inks, and crushed olive distress ink.
More stamping, adding threads, the drip drop die cut and butterfly, and hand lettering my thoughts come next. I thought I was finished, but...

...then I remembered my Infusions and knew they would add to this.
Lots of drips, splats, sprinkles and splatters on my page!
I hope you've enjoyed my bit of inspiration for this week's challenge. Now it's your turn to sprinkle and splatter! I'm looking forward to seeing what you share with us. Our generous friends at Simon Says Stamp are offering a $50 voucher to one participant drawn at random!

Maura, your journal page is an absolute delight! I love your colour choices and I also love how you used Seth's drip drop die (a favourite of mine) with the butterfly atop, it is beautiful! Hugs, Anne xx
ReplyDeleteWow, your background is so rich in patterns, colors and splashes, I love it. The colors you chose are so mysterious here and the drip drop die seems to be perfect for this page. I love the messy colors all around it and the infusions falling down. Hugs, Marzena
ReplyDeleteBeautiful notebook cover, Maura! I love the combination of textures and colors :)
