Mischievous Cats

This week the challenge is: MAKE YOUR OWN BACKGROUND

One thing you may know about me from my work is...I LOVE color! In my opinion, more color is always better, lol! I've been working with liquid watercolors lately, and I got to wondering how Simon's Pawsitively Saturated reinkers would work, so I set out to experiment.

MISCHIEVOUS CATS

I began by swirling and scribbling some warm colors of  ink onto my watercolor paper. Then I took a water brush and blended it out a bit. 

Next I went in with cool colors and repeated the step. I did discover that some inks blend out better with water than others. As you can see, I am already getting a pattern from some of the swirls and dots of ink.

Here's the selection of colors I chose from the Set 2 reinkers.

To brighten it up even more, I blended in Citrine ink with a blending brush in some areas.

Next, I added bubbles in random areas with Tim's Bubble layering stencil, Ocean ink and a blending brush.  I love making several layers when I am creating my own backgrounds.

Next, I took a wooden skewer and dipped the flat end into white acrylic ink, and added circles of dots over my design.

There, you now  have your own background to use as you like. I cut a section from mine to make the background for the cats on my card.  I wanted a playful background, and I think it worked. 

I cut a small strip of the background to pop the inside of the card with color.

To finish the card, I added a bit of edging with black ink, and the word  Friendship.
