Here in upstate New York, we are definitely enjoying fall! The trees are changing colors - I can look out and see red, orange, yellow, and brown instead of green as I look at the landscape. Farm stands have their pumpkins out, and a chill is definitely in the air. The weather is saying snow here for friday! I am definitely NOT ready for that yet. I need time still to enjoy the crunch of fallen leaves underfoot, the smell of woodsmoke, the sounds of the geese heading south, and the fall colors.
I thought I would share two cards I recently made that bring fall to mind. The first card I made at Michelle's Stampin Up class. Don't you just love the colors and design she came up with for this card? The brown background is embossed, and then we layered the leaves onto squares, tied on some twine and stapled it, and hung a little acorn off of it with a jump ring. I love the way these colors evoke fall and fit so well together to give a rustic appeal to the card.
The second card is also embossed and I decided to use green cardstock rather than orange to give more of a feeling of fall than Halloween. I ran ink over the embossed image to add the color to the pumpkins, then added glitter to the top of the pumpkins - I was trying to make it look like a bit of frost on the pumpkin. I added ribbon, stamped "Just for You" and punched it out (Stampin Up) and popped it off the ribbon.
There you have it - two fall cards, fall colors and designs, but very different looks. Maybe this will inspire you to create a fall card too!
Imagine my surprise when the pumpkin card showed up in my mailbox! It is even more striking in person. Perfect for the fall season. Thanks Maura!
