LSNED Week 3

First day of fall and here I am playing with color, distress inks, stencils, doodling this week, and enjoying the freedom of allowing myself to do this without photos. Here are some glimpses, so grab your cup of coffee and enjoy.

I do realize I have a long way to go in my doodling, but it is fun to try!

Here I tried something called Memory Tracking that Shimelle recommended. You think of something, an object, idea...and then brainstorm all the things you remember about it. I chose one of my favorites - coffee, and different memories it evoked. Check out the crafty memory - when Sheila and I have the opportunity to craft together, we always make fresh coffee to enjoy while crafting. So today, while working on this, I have my cup of coffee at hand, and am thinking of you Sheila - pumpkin spice season...and red cup is not far off!

LSNED Take 5

I have been working on this project from September from Shimelle's class that Sheila and I took. So here is my next view, and I will have some more up soon - promise!
Day 16 - thinking about weekdays vs. weekends....a bit of patterned paper, Washi, ephemera and photos
Day 17 - focused on the Sunday phone calls with my Mom (miss hearing her sweet voice)... Some Washi, letters, dabs of metallic Distress Stain, and an old-fashioned telephone
Day 18 - focusing on simplicity, so I had fun with this background using a Balzer template and spraying lime green mist, stamping with a Tim Holtz sewing pattern design (I think it is Vogue, but reminds me of those Simplicity sewing patterns I used to use), and then doodling with a black pen in some of the hexagons - enjoyed playing with this one!
Day 19 - thinking about change and things right now in my life...some Washi, punchinella, coffee cup cut out of a smash page
Day 20 - this one is about me, so notice the green, my Kia Soul aka "the Hibbster", an alien sticker, some steampunk....hmm about the only thing missing is my family (of course they are part of me), and a cup of java.
Day 21 - here's the family (oops, where's Jasper? Under the table?), celebrating the Autumnal Equinox with my students, starting a class with May Flaum - Kit-Tastic ( oh boy, I have to go back and do that one over again...something happened with time in September), simple pages...just a bit of doodling.

LSNED-Maura Take 3

Day 6 - thinking about what I am grateful for, and first day of school.  I took a photo of a very nice package I opened on my return to school - one of my students won an honorable mention in the DuPont Challenge! Wow! I also cover my plan book with scrapbook paper every year, so now I am ready.

Day 7 - an ordinary day...and a fabulous evening of music - Annie and the Hedonists! My husband and I had a great evening out at a local coffeehouse.

Day 8 - playing around with some photo programs, as well as taking a photo of our gorgeous evening sky. My son and I went out to catch it...and I caught him!

Day 9 - focus on family...playing with washi, stamps and paint.

I am discovering that most of the extras I got with my Smash book are pretty flat, and I have learned that I really like dimension in my pages.  It is hard for me to keep them fairly flat (I am trying) and the book no longer closes.  I think I will end up with a fat Smash book or end up deconstructing it.

LSNED-catching up...

Day 2- focusing on teaching and music
School starts up, and my creative time flies out the door! It is harder to find the time in my days to do this, but if it is a half hour here and there, or only the weekends, I WILL do it!  Finally had a chance to put together some more pages for my LSNED class.  I have been keeping up with journaling, and usually a photo or two, but getting it into the Smash book has been the challenge.

Day 3- looking at some self improvement, and always my daily life. Made a pocket out of punchinella, and cut the chicken from a photo I took.

Day 4- my house, especially how we think about it in the summer - large and spacious, vs. the winter - cramped and tiny. I used this funny picture of my husband and son sitting in porch chairs in our couch frame (it was out for reupholstering) to show some cabin fever craziness!

Day 5 - Time, or the lack of it - how appropriate!! But this also celebrates Tim Holtz and Mario Rossi visiting the blog and leaving comments about my tag book. I can tell you, that made my day for 2 days in a row!!

LSNED-Sheila's Version

When Maura emailed that she was posting her class materials for our "Learn Something New Everyday" class this month, I had no idea of what I wanted to do or what I wanted to end up with. I honestly was a bit confused about the class...was it journaling, photos, a part of my Project Life? So, being confused also led me to be a bit unenthusiastic about working on it. Now, I do have a list beside me that has a lesson I have learned each day so far...but other than that list....I had nothing.

Until now. I decided to make this project easy on myself. It may or not not include a photo. But it will include journaling from each day.

I looked through my stash and found a very old tin from Pinecone Press. I added some school themed papers on the cover and the inside, added some ribbon charm letters and a handmade Flair button that I designed to match.
tin measures about 3 1/2" by 4 1/2"
For the inside I designed and printed out some penmanship paper, cut them to size and after I realized that if I bound them as a book, it would no longer fit inside, I just decided to alter a binder clip and used that.
I stamped each of the journaling cards with numbers for the days of the month or for each lesson learned I suppose.
And I added a stamped bookplate to the back with details.
Now I really like my take on this class and am actually looking forward to completing each little card. Some might just have journaling, others may include a little photo or perhaps even a bit of embellishing but I finally feel like I am into the swing of things. Better late than never!

Day 1-My Big Adventure

Finally got some photos printed out after trying 3 different printers yesterday, so I could work on my smash book LSNED. I did finish day 1 (and today is day 10), so you can see how I am doing. Our assignment from Shimelle was to think about our last big adventure. Mine really falls into misadventure I would say. Between a very dry summer and an old water pump, I came home from a movie to no water in the house. Dr. H2O to the rescue! This is the story of the week with no water and "camping" in our own home.
