Triple Trio at Creative Carte Blanche!

It's Triple Trouble over at Creative Carte Blanche, the newest challenge is to use a trio of items - cardboard, lace and metal. Now you might think these would not go together, but they certainly do! I decided to make a little fat book page, that I'll call "Lady Luck".

I challenged myself to try some different colors with the cardboard, and give a bit of a Caribbean flair. Normally, I would go for dark colors, maybe metallics, so it was fun to play with the brights! I had a piece of watercolor paper I'd tried my color bursts with, and got the lovely teal colors, which I thought would be a nice contrast. Out came a very old stamp from Acey Deucy that I thought would be fun to play with and I could put a metal crown on her head.

A domino to echo the one in the art stamp, rusty metal key, lucky charm, and gears round out my trio of laces. Cardboard - check! Lace - check! Metal - check! I do believe I have the trio covered for the challenge.

Spooky! Simon Says Stamp Leaf-spiration Challenge

Here we go- a little fat book page for an art exchange, and an entry for SSS challenge this week! My LFB is for Halloween, and after reading the challenge at Simon Says, I thought, I can add leaves to Halloween ( see if you can find the tiny leaves with a bit of crystal accents on them). The background is painted canvas with webbing, and the rest of the elements tell the story.

Art Gathering Page Keeper Project

At our recent art gathering, I put together a project for us to do.  We made a book to keep LFB (little fat book) pages in. These pages are 4"x4" and the new Martha Stewart plastic sheets hold them perfectly.  I made kits with papers, embellishments, fibers, and cut the plastic sheets in half.  Everyone had the same types of materials to work with, but each kit was different, and everyone added their personal style to their book.

Christmas in July: little fat book page

My little fat book page I made for an art exchange.  As you can see, the theme is Christmas, and there is no time like July to work on Christmas things. If you do it now, you won't be scrambling in December when life is so hectic to get it all done! ( Yup, listen to that advice there, Maura :)

Trying to give you a view of the dimension and layers.  I had fun adding in the skate key, lights and key hole to spice this up!

Something's Fishy LFB

Paint 4x4 chipboard with blue paint.

I really wanted to try out my new Gelatos, so used them on this Tim Holtz stamp in 3 colors.

Here you can see the stamped effect.  I like how the Gelatos give it a little sheen and sparkle.

 
Next, I just drew some waves and used several colors.  I did not worry too much at this stage what it looked like. 

 Use the blending tool and smudge the colors a bit to blend.

I triple stamped the fish with a couple of colors and stamped the worm on the hook.

I added a bit of color to the fish with some colored pencils.

It still needed some depth, so I stamped the fish on some printed words, cut the clock out, and popped them up.

Still looking for some more dimension, so I added some thick layers of Distress Stickles in several colors to the waves .

"Smooched"

To "smooch" or not to "smooch"? Ah, that is the question I asked myself on this project.  I am hosting a "little fat book" 4" x 4" page exchange with a tea party theme with my art group.  I debated fancy tea party, hats, gloves, etc. then thought...hey! Mad Hatter Tea Party!  then I can go a little crazy with it. I thought I was done, and took the top photo, and then I thought of my Smooch.  Check out the bottom photo to see the difference.

Harvest Time

One of the creative things my art group works on are 4 x 4 pages, often called "little fat book" (LFB) pages.  I am sponsoring a harvest themed LFB exchange this month.

This is mine for the exchange.  I had fun layering stamped images, they are so cool - I just love that tractor!  Harvest time makes me think of the farmers bringing in their crops, my family harvesting the gardens and fruit trees, the dirt and fields (cardboard, and green layer), and of course, the changing color of the trees. Guess I had to "throw" the cow in there too, since we have quite a few dairy farms in upstate New York.

Hmm...wonder if the farm stand is still open?
