Rainbow Tag Book

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  THANKS/THANKSGIVING Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is: TAG IT!

I had fun creating a rainbow tag book full of bright colors and bold designs. I've used a number of Darkroom Door stamps in honor of Rachel Greig, who sadly passed away this August...she is deeply missed in our creative community.

I used my lovely Pawsitively Saturated Inks from Simon Says Stamp in a rainbow of colors.

I love these funky tags from Studio Light, and ink smooshed each side with a color.

Then, I stamped the background of each tag in the same color to get a tone on tone design.

For my cover tag, I inked the stamp up with cool colors, then warm colors and stamped it onto the natural tag.

I cut some additional tiny tags, colored them with ink smooshing, and stamped the background in black ink.

Meanwhile, I stamped flowers on watercolor paper and blended the inks over the stamped image. These small blending brushes are a favorite of mine, as well as this cool holder fro them, all from Simon Says Stamp.

Add a bit of gold with a pen...then fussy cut them out.

On the cover, I put cool tags on the warm color background and added a matching flower.

And warm tags on the cool background...

I added some Big Chat words from Tim Holtz, so my cover would read " create dreams from your heart."

My rainbow tag book filled with inspiring quotes and tied together with some hand dyed ribbons.

I've flipped through each of the tags so you can see them individually.

I hope I've inspired you with my tag book! Make some tags of your own and share them with us this week!

Grunge It Up

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  THINKING OF YOU  Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

Since it's the first of the month, we are also showcasing the wonderful products of Carabelle Studio this week.

Please join me in welcoming this month's guest designer, Anita Rao!

This week the challenge is: GRUNGE IT UP

The most precious things of life are near at hand

Isn't this a great stamp from Carabelle Studio for backgrounds? I love the mix of text, numbers, and doodled circles. I started by stamping directly into the journal, but it didn't go so well. I looked through my stash of handmade papers and found this one. I use the paper bags that come with the Simon Says Stamp card kits when I paint or spray. I also wipe off extra paint, add designs and make something totally new. I stamped the art journal stamp over my paper, and ripped around the edges.

Meanwhile, I added texture to the sides of the page with texture paste and the Tim Holtz Ringer stencil.

I decided to cut out the circles in the stamped design and lay it over the previously stamped image in the journal.

I used collage medium to adhere the paper to the journal. I kept the cut circles and added them around the design.

To connect the circles in the design with those on the textured edges, I used a bottle cap and black paint to add more circles.

Now, it's time to find a focal point. I went to my Tim Holtz paper dolls and pulled this one out of a mother and child.

Then, this chip quote said, "yes, I fit perfectly here."

Lots of grungy texture...

I love this mix of grungy colors with hints of orange and turquoise.

And, yes, coat and hat weather is returning here. I am fighting putting on shoes and socks again, I'm just not ready to bundle up yet.

Pick A Number

Hello Monday my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  Masculine Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is: PICK A NUMBER

Dragonflies carrying time away amidst a sea of numbers...

II began with some ink smooshing to create the background of the tag. I also spritzed some water on the tag and lifted it.

Next, I stenciled in numbers with pink ink and a small blending brush. BTW, I love these blending brushes!

Next, I stamped with the same ink and the Carabelle numbers stamp.

I stamped the dragonfly with the black ink on the tag. I like the clock and steampunk feel to these insects.

I added some metal bits I had in my stash.

I like how these look like goggles.

Numbers in the background, numbers on the clock...pick a number!
So, these dragonflies are carrying time somewhere, hence...time travel.
