Cuppa Joe

 

 Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  Transport It Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is: Use Ephemera/Layer it Up

It's always time for a cuppa joe in my world! I do love a good cuppa! My favorite coffee roaster is in the torn next door - Upstate Coffee Roasters. (upstate New York to be exact) I love how each blend is named for a location in upstate, and each is delicious!  I get my coffee in whole beans and grind it in small batches, so it is always fresh. The company is also focused on outdoor activities like mountain biking, hot air ballooning, rodeo and more.  The empty coffee bag inspired my tag this week. 

Lake George NY is a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. There are even paddle wheelers that roam the lake.

Let's start with some good grungy ink smooshing. 

Next up, collage a bold layer of tissue onto the tag.  

Add my coffee bag, a cup stamped on ledger paper and a fern for the outdoors. I also distressed the edges of the tag.  

A couple of clock images...because it is always time for coffee in my worlds, and even a pup. Do pups like coffee? - oh yes, if it has cream in it!

And if I added a dog, I had to add a cat, because the same cream in the coffee story holds for them! 

I added a fern and the cuppa joe from my stamped image... 

I spritzed Vintage Rust and Cosmic Shimmer onto the tag for a more vintage look.  

Added some fun black and white washi tape...

Thanksgiving

 

 Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  Thinking Of You Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is: THANKS/THANKSGIVING 

I've gone for a rustic traditional approach to my Thanksgiving card, with a mixed media twist. 

It all began with a sheet of watercolor and some leaf printing. I gathered leaves on some of my foliage trips with hubby, painted the back with watercolor, and then printed onto the watercolor paper. Since it is cold press, it has a lot of texture, so the leaves are more abstract.  

 I stamped a couple of images from the Prima set. Once the ink was dry, I went back in with watercolor. 

I also distressed the edges with ink and a paper distressed. 

I added some foliage ephemera to the stamped images. 

Final step after constructing the card layers was to splatter with gold gouache.

Fall Mood Board: Books and Botanicals

 

 Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  USE PATTERNED PAPER Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

Use this fabulous mood board, created by Macarena to inspire you this week! 

 

This week the challenge is: FALL MOOD BOARD

I've pulled out some color elements, books, glasses, cup, leaves.... 

I stamped , colored, and fussy cut a few images to use

I've been collecting leaves this fall and making watercolor prints with them. Apply a light (not watery) layer of watercolor onto the back of the leaf and press onto the paper. Some leaves give more detail if they have good ridges. 

I began layering my images onto the leaf print background.

I worked on watercolor paper, but wanted to put it into one of my many art journals. I decided to stencil a border around the page to help it blend better with my collage.

I decided to add Autumn Mood flowing out of the pen image. 

I had fun combining images of cups (c coffee for me please), books and botanicals.  The cool, cozy days are perfect for curling up with a good book. 

I had to add in the wire rim glasses like Macarena put into the mood board. I also decided to add a pen, because this started to remind me of a writer's Victorian study.
