Simon Says: NOT a Card!

Hello Monday my friends! Welcome back to our latest challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - NOT A CARD. You can make and share anything but a card with us this week. I headed to one of my many art journals to play. We are also sponsoring the amazing products from STAMPERIA. This is a favorite company of mine!!

Please join me in welcoming our Guest Designer for October - LYLA!  We are so happy to have you with us this month, and look forward to your creative makes!

As I was working on my page, using the Lady Vagabond and Sir Vagabond papers, I was thinking about time travel. When I saw the teapot train hot air balloon, it immediately took me to a book series I thoroughly enjoy reading - The Chronicles of St. Mary's by Jodi Taylor. The books in this series always make me laugh! They revolve around the madcap misadventures of historians who time travel...oh, excuse me - Investigate major historical events in contemporary time. They use "pods" to travel in, but a couple of teenagers built their own time traveling machine that looks like a teapot, totally illegal of course! So, let's head back in time....

ESCAPE THE ORDINARY

I began the page by ripping some different papers and glueing them down.

Next, I brushed on Burnt Sienna and Deep Turquoise paints with a brush, leaving most of the papers visible.

Then, I added a few stenciled images, and used the facing page to clean them off on.

I fussy cut and collaged the air ship on top.

Then, I fussy cut and added Lady and Sir Vagabond and a bit of text. They are certainly ready for their next adventure!

Have you read any books lately that inspire you to create? I'd love to hear about them!
So, now it's your turn to create and share anything that is not a card with us this week. Our generous friends at Simon Says Stamp are offering a $25 shopping voucher to one participant drawn at random.

A great place to shop!

Love and Hearts

Hello Monday my friends, and welcome to this week's challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - HEARTS and/or LOVE...after all it is the month of love! We are also showcasing the wonderful products from Carabelle Studio, a favorite of mine.

Please join me in welcoming the talented Estelle Paulumbo of Autoscrap. I'm looking forward to your creations this month, and am so happy you have joined us as our guest designer!

OPPOSITES ATTRACT

I started with a pinkish palette of paints, stencils, a texture plate, and an envelope.

I blended paints through the stencil...

and used a large white envelope from the mail.

I used a texture plate to print with...

and another stencil.  Now, I have several patterned papers to use for my background

I cut one diagonally, and adhered to the flip journal.

Then, I started cutting and laying out different elements.  I had previously watercolored my animals, and also added watercolor to my bubble pattern.

I added hand cut hearts, and hearts from Simon's Chunky Hearts die, colored in parts of the design in order to carry over the chameleon's colors.

What a story of love! A squirrel and chameleon madly in love...you never know when love might find you and who (or what) it might be.
I added some doodles and more coloring, and did a watercolor wash in the background.

Pattern and doodle details...

Lots of pinks, lots of hearts...

I LOVE YOU MADLY

Now it's your turn to create something with hearts and love and join us in this week's challenge. I'm looking forward to your makes, and one of you will be drawn for a $25 shopping voucher from our generous friends at Simon Says Stamp!
