This week the challenge is: MOTHERS DAY/FEMININE

When I looked at the colors I put together, I thought the Simon Says Stamp Pop of Color stamp set would go perfectly with this.

Mother's Day for me is a bittersweet time. I always think of my mom and the dood memories of times we shared, but it is also the time of year when passed away...it was the early morning hours of the following day that we said our final goodbyes.  I am a mother myself, but it is always my mom that I think of.

Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms out there! 

I stamped my images on watercolor paper, and for the butterfly background, I just left the stamps in place on the sheet and laid my paper over it. Once my ink was totally dry, I went in and blended pink, yellow and orange watercolor to get a bright, spring feel. 

I spritzed a bit of water over my background, then lifted the drops with a paper towel to add some more texture. 

I love these feminine stamps from Alison Bomber because the women look like her. They say to draw or write what you know. 

As I looked at my bright colors, I reached for my Simon Pop Of Color stamps to add the sentiment. I do LOVE color!!!

Bloom Where You Are Planted

 

 Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  BRIGHT AND CHEERFUL Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is: USE MORE THAN ONE STENCIL

Let's keep the bright and cheery colors going into this week's challenge. I love the look of watercolor with stencils, and it made the perfect background for some funky flowers I doodled.

BLOOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED 

 

I began with a layer of water spread on my pages, then I dropped in several watercolors and blended them a bit. I partially dried this layer before moving on. 

Next, I used three stencils and wiped back some of the color with a baby wipe.  

 You can see what a lovely design emerges with this technique.

I doodled some flowers and leaves onto book paper from my stash that I had previously painted.  I also added a bit of light stamping.

Some white splatter is always fun to add. 

 I hand lettered "Boom where you are planted" with a black marker.

Bright and Cheerful

 Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  Not A card Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is: BRIGHT AND CHEERFUL

What is more bright and cheerful than a bouquet of spring floweres? 

I began with a large sheet of watercolor paper. I applied a water wash over it, then tapped in colors with my brush. While wet, I placed a sheet of bubble wrap over it and let it dry.

It is always fun to lift the bubble wrap and see your design! 

I stamped the Abstract Flowers onto the watercolor sheet, then die cut each piece using the matching dies from Simon Says Stamp. 

Meanwhile, I took two black tags and added texture paste through the Deco Feathers stencil., then set it aside to dry.  

I applied the Sweets ink over the texture paste, and like the contrast between black and pink for the background. 

Then, it was just a matter of arranging my bouquets for the tags. 

I added  some words and ribbons to finish these.
