Trees

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  EMBOSS IT  Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

It's been great having Teresa with us this month sharing her wonderful creative mojo!  Looking forward to seeing more fabulous makes, Teresa!

This week the challenge is: TREES

Honored to be chosen as a favorite of the week at Splitcoaststampers!!

The fallen leaves return to the earth to decay and bring forth new growth in the Spring.  I thought this quote from teamie Andrea Ockey Parr fit this idea perfectly for my art journal page.

ALWAYS HOPE

For my stamping, I inked up a couple of colors on the background stamps, spritzed them with water, then stamped. I wanted a blend of colors and a watercolor effect.

I stamped the different leaf backgrounds for an all over print.

Next step is to over stamp with the leaf outlines.

I worked on the large piece, then cut it into 4's to place on my background paper, creating a bit of a window effect.

I stamped the words and some dots onto the center piece, mounted it, and tilted it.

AND ALWAYS THERE WAS HOPE

I made mine into an art journal page, but on a smaller scale, this would make a lovely card too.

As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a $25 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store

Embrace the Grey!

Hello Monday my friends! Welcome back to this week's challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - ADD A PHOTO. Well, I added three to tell a life story.

Sadly, we are saying goodbye to our talented guest designer Tracy Ware this week. I know you've enjoyed her awesome projects as much as I have. Wishing you the best Tracy, see you out there on the web!

I decided to head to one of my art journals this week and share a story for 2020. Read on!

    EMBRACE THE GREY

I started with multiple layers of grey, and added in a bit of background design with the Simon STAMPtember Deco Squares stencil.

I stamped an image, words and designs to go with my photos, keeping with my grey theme.

As we all know, 2020 has been one strange year, and I am going to share one personal, slightly humorous story with you. When we went into lockdown in March, I'd had a haircut and color in February, so I was good. As time passed, more grey showed up and my hair got longer. I did NOT like this very much, and wanted to get back to the me that I saw. Since that was not to be, my hair just got longer and grayer, and then I kind of started to like it. LOL!

So here we are in September, long and lots of white/grey. To show this beyond my photo, I added in some white lines to Andrea Ockey Parr's girl. I am embracing my grey!

September marked my 7 month haircut...I have never gone this long before, since my younger self had long hair. No color for me, and keep it a bit longer please! Let's see where this goes!  My hairdresser was really interested in the pattern of my grey and took a photo to show me - she told me I am an angel, I have a halo of grey around my head....wait until I tell hubby this one!

Before....

After...

Well, that was fun! What story do your photos tell? Create something with a photo (or more) and join us this week! Our generous friends at Simon Says Stamp are offering a $25 shopping voucher to one of you.

Oodles of Doodles

Hello Monday, my friends! We have a fun challenge for you this week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - OODLES of DOODLES. I love to doodle and add designs, but this week I thought I would try stamping some images and then doodling them.

Sadly, we have to say goodbye to the very talented Anne Redfern of Redanne, our August guest designer. I am sure you have enjoyed her beautiful creations as much as I have! I know we will be in touch on the web Anne, and I wish you the best. Thanks for joining us!

JOYFUL BLOSSOMS

I have been waiting to start using the Dina Wakley white Media Journal, and I thought it would be perfect to try the watercolors on. The paper is wonderfully heavy and I love how it takes the watercolor.  I lightly misted the pages, then rolled some different colors across the page.

It's very textured, so detailed stamps are not so easy to get a clear image with, but I kind of like the looseness here. Love the little ink pads for all these colors.

Next, I went in and doodled some of the flowers, using white, gold, and black pens.

Then, I decided I wanted to add in some leaves and another type of plant.

Details...

My approach was fairly simple, but I love the way the colors move and blend, and the flower blossoms burst across the pages. Doodling adds another element and a new look.

I hope you've enjoyed my art journal doodling, and are inspired to join us this week!
