Lady Liberty

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  VACATION  Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

It has been wonderful having Wanda with us this month! Her projects have been so inspiring, and I am looking forward to more!

UPDATE: Many thanks for selecting this as a weekly favorite on Splitcoaststampers!!

This week the challenge is: RED, WHITE AND BLUE

LADY LIBERTY

I often get to see Lady Liberty on my trips to New York City for my eye appointments. S
he is one inspiring lady!

I began by making a template out of cardboard, then sketching out my stars.

I colored them with Tombow markers and a water brush, so I would have red, white and blue stars.

I stamped the stars, and on some did a half and half stamping...I like how they turned out. Then, I fussy cut them.

I stenciled Lady Liberty, and added a Simon stencil to the bottom for my background.

I figured out the star place, then Weed people July 4

Emboss It

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  Food and /or Drink Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

It's been wonderful having Estelle Palumbo with us this month! I am sure you have been as inspired as I have by her creativity!

This week the challenge is: EMBOSS IT!

I have to admit, I don't emboss very often, so it's a nice surprise to see it in action again. I only embossed the seed pod on the ATC portion of my art journal page.

Grow Your Own Oasis

I embossed the seed pod using Simon's Clear Embossing Powder.

I blended some watercolor over the image on my ATC. I like how it acts as a resist - I need to try this more often!

Next, I stamped the words...

Then, I used a baby wipe and Simon's Grid Stencil to wipe away some of the watercolor, leaving the grid image.

I wrapped some turquoise twine around the ATC for contrast, and thought I was done.

Embossed detail...

Then, I decided to turn this into an art journal page. I used the grid stencil again and inks in coordinating colors plus green, on the page. I am a huge fan of the Simon Says Stamp small blending brushes, and they work beautifully with stencils.

I made giant leaves with more Simon stencils. I think I was inspired to add the plants because of my son with his green thumb and plant collection.

A bit of plant ephemera, and then the ATC nestled into the foliage...

Simon Says: Stencil It!

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  SPOOKY/ADD PURPLE  Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

It's been wonderful having Alison with us again this month sharing her creative superpowers.  Thanks Alison for sharing your beautiful work with us!

This week the challenge is: STENCIL IT!

I love using stencils in my work, and these wonderful layered plant stencils from Simon Says Stamp are new favorites.

Stromanthe Thinking of You

Monstera Holiday Wishes

I began with light green on each leaf, then a darker green using a small blending brush.

Next up, the rusty reds, lighter first, then darker. Once complete, I dripped a little water over the leaves, get it sit a bit, then laid a paper towel over it to pick up the wet areas.

I wanted to add a little more pizzaz to this card, so stenciled around areas with a grid stencil from Tim Holtz.

I splattered gold gouache on this card, and went around some areas with a white pen to add more detail.

I stamped the Thinking of You with Allspice ink.

I turned this leaf card into a Christmas card, inspired by the red and green leaf. I splattered some Allspice, stamped Holiday Wishes, and stamped  and colored this cute elf from Tim Holt's Stamprember set.

 Detail...

Two leaves, same inks and process, but each is unique in the end.   Which one is your favorite?
